In addition to the existing high-speed train line between Gebze and Köseköy, TCDD is constructing a separate railway cargo line, which is planned to be operational in 2025. The Beldeport Railway Intermodal Yard, located right behind the port's West Container Terminal, will be put into operation simultaneously with the TCDD cargo line.
The railway intermodal yard within the Port area will be completed, connecting the terminal with the mid-corridor of the Belt and Road (from China to London). The Beldeport railway intermodal yard is designed to have three process lines with an annual loading/unloading capacity of 300k container boxes or equivalent cargo. This cargo line passing through the port facilities will be connected via a 5.5 km siding line. This siding line will significantly increase the railway terminal's capacity by allowing all kinds of maneuvers without interrupting the main cargo line. The Beldeport Railway Cargo Terminal, connected to the siding line with three port-specific process lines, will be able to provide loading and unloading services to three trains simultaneously, making it the highest capacity logistics center on the TCDD Köseköy (Asian side)-Halkalı (European side) route. Beldeport will offer its customers economical and environmentally friendly intermodal transportation and logistics solutions.
