Beldeport, operated by MED Lojistik A.Ş, is the first port located just before the Osmangazi Bridge, at the entrance of the Gulf of Izmit, 45 km east of Istanbul. The design, operational and master development plans of Beldeport have been carried out in phases by HPC-Hamburg Port Consulting GmbH, the engineering group of the Port of Hamburg, by EU technical and environmental standards.
Located in the Northeastern Marmara Region, which hosts leading manufacturers of the Turkish industry, Beldeport also situated at the most strategic point of the Gulf of Izmit, on the China-London Railway Middle Corridor, which is part of China’s "Belt and Road" initiative, at the point where the thousand-year-old Silk Road meets the sea.
With the completion of the first phase of investment, Beldeport started its operations in 2018; it has a quay length of 450 meters, a uniform water draft of 16.5 meters in front of the quay, and an annual capacity of 550,000 TEU containers, providing the infrastructure to serve mega container ships.
Beldeport proceeds with its investments to become the leading terminal in the region;
With the investments to be made following the currently operational 450-meter quay of the "Beldeport West Terminal", located west of the Osmangazi Bridge, the linear quay length will increase to 1,384 meters, the water draft in front of the quay will be 19,5 meters. By completing these investment, the annual capacity of the port will reach 2,150,000 TEU containers.
A separate liquid bulk and general cargo terminal will be built at the East side of the Port with a quay length of 362m. Initial storage capacity of the liquid bulk terminal will be 48K m3 and it will be expanded to 300K m3 to serve the growing chemical industry which is mainly located in the Northeast of Marmara where Beldeport is located. “Beldeport East Terminal” is also expected to handle general and project cargoes with a capacity of 1,5 million tons/year.
Within the Beldeport facilities, located on the railway middle corridor of the Chinese Silk Road, the "Beldeport Intermodal Railway Terminal" will be constructed, capable of serving 3 block trains simultaneously with 3 process lines.
Beldeport intermodal rail terminal inside the port will feature the highest capacity cargo rail operations in the whole Marmara ports where the mid-corridor of China’s Belt & Road passes through.
